- Late Monday, House leadership announced changes to the American Health Care Act to help sway those still-undecided voters.
- The House was scheduled to vote on the bill Thursday but was pushed to Friday, the seven-year anniversary of President Barack Obama signing the Affordable Care Act.
- At 3p.m. Friday afternoon, after not being able to garner the votes needed to pass the bill, the President decided to pull the bill.
What happens to the American Health Care Act, or health care reform in general, now that the bill has been pulled? For now, and the foreseeable future, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) remains the law and in effect. From Paul Ryan’s speech following the bill’s pull, it sounded as though the administration may begin to focus more on other parts of Trump’s agenda such as tax reform and securing the borders. He did note in regards to health care reform that, “We will get there. We just did not get there today.”
